Sigitas Laurinavičius, a painter, has been a member of the Lithuanian Artists' Union since 2013. He completed his studies at the Faculty of Arts at Šiauliai Pedagogical Institute in 1992—an institution now known as Šiauliai University—and obtained a Master's degree in Humanities (Art) in 1997. His enduring commitment to the arts is evident in both his formal education and his professional memberships.
Laurinavičius has actively participated in the art world since 1995, holding 14 solo exhibitions and taking part in over 20 plein air projects, along with more than 100 group exhibitions in Lithuania and abroad. Such involvement highlights his dedication to the artistic community and underscores his desire to present his creative vision to a wide audience.
Beyond his own artistic pursuits, Sigitas Laurinavičius has made significant contributions to art organizations. He has been affiliated with the Zemgale Region Artists' Group since 2001 and, between 2003 and 2015, led and curated exhibitions and plein-air events. His contributions have been acknowledged with letters of appreciation, the Panevėžys City Municipality Prize in 2018, as well as scholarships from the Panevėžys City Municipality in 2017 and 2022. In 2021, he was honored with the diploma of laureate at the 1st International Triennial "У краю сірих перлин" in Kremenchuk, Ukraine.
Laurinavičius’s style is characterized by an original combination of realistic and abstract motifs, frequently incorporating single or groups of colored squares that resemble digital pixels. These unique aspects create visual layers, suggesting fragmentation or the movement of time, thereby challenging the viewer’s experience of reality. Through this method, he seeks to evoke doubt and contemplation, encouraging viewers to question the veracity of visual representations and to reconsider how they relate to the images before them.
