Painting in the room
"K. Česonytė’s paintings are variations on Expressionist painting: characterized by a trembling touch, energetic brushstrokes, and expressive paint textures with which she often seems to 'sculpt' figures, objects, and landscape elements. In terms of genre, the scope of her work is quite traditional. Landscapes predominate, though the artist has also painted a series of still lifes, numerous urban scenes, and the occasional stylized portrait. Yet, other aspects of K. Česonytė’s painting align her less with classical modernist art and more with the imagery of the contemporary, media-saturated world. 'My tools are the computer and virtual space,' she says. The visual imagery in her paintings derives not from reality itself, but from a virtual—or secondary—reality. For this creative artist, however, that serves merely as a springboard or a starting signal that liberates both imagination and hand. In her work, this secondary reality—or a chance motif—and the artist’s imagination most often intertwine inseparably. Images suggested by modern media are transformed into authentic visions, deeply and sensitively experienced by the painter herself."

About this artwork+
In this painting titled "Broken Chain" by Kristina Česonytė, we see two panels filled with circles. The circles are painted in soft shades of pink, grey, black, and white. They form incomplete, spiraling chains that seem to float against a muted background. The style of the painting is minimalist and modern. The focus is on geometric shapes and a restrained color palette. Česonytė's use of space and subtle tones creates a sense of calm and broken continuity, suggesting the theme of disruption or fragmentation implied by the title. It gives the viewer a sense of both harmony and interruption.
