More about this artwork

The painting is awash with a vivid mix of red and orange hues, setting a tumultuous, almost fiery background. Overlaying this are numerous intersecting and crisscrossing lines, creating a tangled web of fractures that span the canvas. These lines, painted in white, black, and occasional streaks of yellow and blue, appear like cracks in shattered glass. The composition, with its chaotic and overlapping lines, emanates a sense of forceful disruption and intensity, invoking feelings of confusion and distress. The overall effect is a dynamic and visually compelling representation of turmoil.

Lina Urbanavičienė, an artist from Lithuania, discovered her love for art at an early age. Encouraged by her father, himself a painter, she became captivated by watching a blank canvas turn into a vivid work of art. These formative moments played a significant role in shaping her path toward a creative profession. Lina completed her studies at the Kaunas School of Applied Arts before furthering her education at the Faculty of Arts at Vytautas Magnus University.

In addition to working on her own artistic creations, Lina serves as an exhibition curator, integrating her professional responsibilities with her deep passion for painting. She has been regularly involved in painting plein-airs and exhibitions since 2008. In 2015, her participation expanded beyond Lithuania, as she began joining international exhibitions and plein-air events, presenting her artwork alongside artists from various countries.

A distinct quality of Lina’s paintings is their sense of ceaseless motion and transforming landscapes. Within her art, entirely new worlds seem to emerge, unfold, and continually change. The scenes never stand still; elements swirl, drift gently, or bubble upward, creating an atmosphere akin to being immersed in a dream or lost in meditation. From time to time, familiar images may appear only to vanish again, intensifying the feeling of an ephemeral, dreamlike journey.

Lina characterizes her artistic process as a journey into unknown realms of feeling and imagination. "When I paint, I enter another world, become a different version of myself, and encounter new emotions and experiences. Escaping reality and diving deep into the world of imagination, colors, and sensations is a joy. It is there that the tangible meets the intangible," she explains, summing up the powerful, transformative effect of her creative work.
