More about this artwork

The painting features a bold, abstract composition with contrasting colors and organic shapes. A large, dark navy blue area dominates the lower left section, suggesting a deep void or a body of water. This dark expanse is bordered by irregular shapes and streaks of creamy white and muted beige tones, possibly depicting the sky or a reflective surface above the darkness. Occasional drips and drops of white cut through these areas, enhancing the fluid, dynamic quality of the scene. In the central to upper right portion, there are thick, irregular applications of olive and mustard yellow paints, creating forms that could be interpreted as land masses or islands floating above or within the dark blue space. These forms are not precisely defined, lending an element of mystery and open interpretation. The overall texture and layering technique impart a tactile quality to the work, emphasizing the physicality of the materials used. The composition invites viewers to navigate through its abstract and fragmented spaces, possibly reflecting a metaphorical or emotional landscape.

Artist

Evelina Baniulytė is a skilled graphic designer and visual artist who graduated in graphic design from the Vilnius Academy of Arts. She honed her illustration skills further at the Accademia Belle Arti Macerata in Italy, where she cultivated a unique personal style shaped by her formal education and diverse artistic interests.

Evelina’s ongoing quest for innovative means of artistic expression led her naturally to abstract painting. Within her artwork, both the artist’s imagination and the viewer’s interpretation are invited to interact, providing limitless possibilities for personal meaning each time the work is viewed. This interplay stands at the heart of her artistic approach.

The spontaneous and unfettered approach in Evelina’s paintings shifts the focus of the observer away from recognizable forms to color and emotion. She carefully selects her color palettes and builds her compositions with textured, layered brushstrokes, resulting in visually engaging works. These complex surfaces draw viewers in, encouraging them to fully experience the artwork’s sensory depth.

Evelina Baniulytė’s paintings, often inspired by her recollections of natural scenery, are marked by their organic motifs and vibrant use of color.
