More about this artwork

In the painting, a colossal, multilayered cloud dominates a moody sky, its texture soft and billowing, resembling the plush surface of cotton or snow. Below this atmospheric giant, a checkered platform stretches out into the distance, comprising alternating shades of dark and light green tiles. The scene features several stylized, dark-gray birds with long, slender legs and large, round eyes. These creatures, varying slightly in size and stance, appear contemplative and somewhat absurd against the surreal backdrop. Scattered around the birds are small red apples, providing a stark contrast with their bright, organic color against the geometric, muted tones of the checkerboard ground and the overwhelming gray of the cloud above.

Artist

Daiva Mažonienė (also known as Daiva Mažo) is an artist devoted to inspiring joy and positivity through her work. Her paintings are easily identifiable by their vibrant and cheerful color schemes, which convey an optimistic, uplifting outlook on life. Serving as visual reminders of happiness, Daiva’s art invites viewers to smile and savor the beauty found in everyday life.

Soft, rounded forms are a hallmark of Mažonienė's artistic approach, dominating much of her work. She has explained that her preference for avoiding sharp corners reflects not only her artistic style but also her broader philosophy; whenever possible, she chooses to 'smooth out' life's edges. This philosophy is evident in her flowing, gentle compositions, which are painted with both a brush and a generous spirit, imbuing each piece with warmth and approachability.

Recurring figures appear throughout her paintings, especially angels called Angeliauskas and exuberant, curvaceous women who represent the joy of embracing life fully. More than mere subjects, these characters have come to symbolize the good, happy life that the artist envisions, embodying positivity and well-being. Through their charm, Daiva Mažonienė conveys feelings of comfort and happiness.

For Mažonienė, the act of creation is intimately tied to her emotional well-being. She has stated that her artwork emerges from times of personal joy, and she strives to infuse every piece with this uplifting energy. The resulting works are not only visually striking, but also emotionally reassuring, opening a window for viewers into a world infused with optimism, generosity, and exuberant expression.
