Illustrator and artist G. Seniūnienė is an artist whose creative journey is closely tied to children’s literature. Her book illustrations and paintings are characterized by playfulness, hope, and light (things that are sorely lacking in our lives).
It is impossible to confine the creative world of book illustrator Giedrė Seniūnienė solely to the concept of book illustration. The artist has also ventured into free artistic expression, where another facet of her artistic personality is revealed. Here, illustrative elements intertwine with painterly imagination, decorative qualities, and a distinctive color palette.
In her canvases, one can find echoes of the world of childhood—playful characters, birds, angels, natural motifs, and fantastical creatures. Color here does not so much replicate reality as it transforms it.
Giedrė collaborates with the public institution “Gabrielė Art Gallery,” is a member of the Italian cultural confederation CONF.E.P.I., and a member of the international Italian-Lithuanian association DU KRANTAI.
The artist’s world is grounded in faith, miracles, kindness, and protection. The recurring angel motifs in her work express this belief particularly clearly.
The artist has said that she believes every person has their own guardian angel. Therefore, the images of angels in her paintings become not only an iconographic motif but also a metaphor for emotional protection.
