More about this artwork

This painting is a beautiful winter scene. You can see the Neris river at Dukstai. The river quietly cuts through a snowy landscape. Trees line the riverbank, appearing softened and almost glowing under the winter sun. Their bare branches reach into a light-filled sky.In the painting, different patches of snow and grass mix on the ground. The colors are mostly blues, whites, and shades of orange in the trees, suggesting a setting or rising sun.Inesa Petkevičienė uses soft, blended brushstrokes. Her style gives the painting a dreamy, tranquil feel. It looks very peaceful. The play of light and shadow adds depth and warmth to the chilly scene. Inesa has created a calming and inviting winter atmosphere in her work.

Inesa Petkevičienė is an artist whose lifelong enthusiasm for drawing began in her childhood. From her first year of school, she joined the drawing group led by the renowned watercolorist Živilė Kairytė, which became the cornerstone of her artistic development. She later continued her studies at the A. Vienožinskis Art School, where she learned from esteemed Lithuanian artists, including Arvydas Šaltenis, Juozapas Miliūnas, Algimantas Švėgžda, Vytautas Pečiukonis, and the sculptor Dalia Matulaitė, among others.

Beyond her academic training, Inesa expanded her abilities by pursuing private studies in painting. This blend of formal education and independent inquiry enabled her to hone her skills across multiple artistic media and genres.

All of Inesa’s works are created directly from nature. She predominantly uses pastels and oils, producing landscapes, still lifes, and figurative pieces. Nevertheless, portraiture has always been her foremost passion. Inesa is committed to portraying not only the outward likeness of her subjects but also their inner essence, using her brushstrokes to convey emotion and atmosphere.

With every artwork, Inesa Petkevičienė seeks to discover and express the subtle beauty and uniqueness of both nature and people. She invests her heartfelt warmth into her creations, striving to reveal and share the distinct character and emotional resonance she observes in her environment and subjects.
