More about this artwork

In the foreground, a solitary seagull stands on a sandy beach. Its plumage is a mix of dark and light shades, and it casts a sharp shadow on the sand beneath it, suggesting a bright, sunny day. The beach appears windswept with sparse tufts of grass and small debris scattered around. The seagull’s attention is drawn toward the sea, which occupies the background. The sea is depicted in tumultuous waves of blue and white, indicating a brisk wind. The vibrant contrasts of blues in the water blend with the pale sand and deep shadows, creating a dynamic interplay of color and movement typical of a lively coastal scene.

Tetiana Ivashkevych, a rising artist from Ukraine, was born and grew up in Kyiv. She earned her degree in painting from the Kyiv National Academy of Visual Arts and Architecture, completing her studies in 2023. Her formal education has given her a solid grounding in both classical and contemporary artistic methods.

In 2022, Ivashkevych relocated to Lithuania and now makes her home in the city of Kretinga. This move marked an important new phase in her career, exposing her to new cultural contexts and surroundings that continually influence and shape her creative work.

The focus of Ivashkevych’s art lies in revealing the remarkable aspects of ordinary life. She draws her inspiration from daily experiences, whether found in nature or in the sincere interactions and emotions of those around her. For Ivashkevych, even life’s simplest scenes—a child’s movement or the reflective gaze of an elderly individual—offer opportunities for profound artistic inquiry.

At the heart of her practice is a commitment to expressing true emotions and lived experiences through painting. Ivashkevych places great value on conveying not only visual appeal, but also the underlying sensations and feelings. She regards painting as a means of emotional communication, seeking to present her viewers with the distinctive interplay of form, movement, and color.
