For Karina Piečaitytė, painting has always represented an intimate journey and a means of expressing her emotions. Diagnosed with diabetes during her childhood, she discovered art as a refuge—a space where she could process her emotions and express both her conscious and subconscious thoughts. Through painting, she found not just an escape from reality, but a confidant to whom she could entrust her life stories and sense of empathy.
Karina seeks to awaken universal, relatable feelings with each of her paintings. She addresses a wide array of themes, from the courage it takes to chase one’s dreams to the profound experiences of misery, despair, and weariness. Her creative process finds significance in both the celebration of aspirations and the sincere depiction of hardship, allowing her work to emotionally connect with those who view it.
Karina wishes for her paintings to inspire or soothe those who view them. Whether by lifting someone’s spirits with a hopeful message or offering comfort on a somber day, her art calls on viewers to explore their own hidden feelings and engage personally with what they see. She hopes that everyone will discover at least a piece of their own emotional world within her artworks.
She graduated from Kaunas art gymnasium, where her studies included a broad range of artistic fields, such as graphics, painting, watercolor, sculpture, design, fashion design, drawing, glasswork, and ceramics. In 2018, Karina completed her bachelor’s degree in graphic design, and she has been actively involved in art projects since 2007. Her recognitions include first-place honors at the international contest "Friendship of World Children," as well as in the 2017 competition "Exlibris. Vilhelmui Storostai Vydūnui - 150".
