More about this artwork

The painting depicts a serene and somewhat ethereal landscape characterized by muted, earthy tones of beige, gray, and hints of green and white. A series of slender, subtle structures, reminiscent of trees or poles, stand vertically across a flat expanse that suggests a foggy, mist-laden terrain. These forms are delicately highlighted, possibly suggesting reflection or illumination. A solitary, more prominently depicted form stands in the foreground, slightly off-center, marked by a slightly more defined and golden hue, giving it an abstracted, idol-like appearance. The sky above this minimalist landscape is soft and lacks any harsh delineations, further enhancing the dreamlike quality of the scene. The handling of paint creates a texture that adds depth and a sense of gentle decay to the image, evoking a space that is timeless and introspective.

Vytautas Koženiauskas Norberto, born in 1958, is a renowned artist and a fourth-generation resident of Kaunas, Lithuania. Deeply connected to his hometown, he is also blessed with a wonderful family whose continued support and inspiration mean a great deal to him. Since 2010, Vytautas has been a dedicated member of the Lithuanian Union of Craftsmen and Artists, reflecting both his skill and his substantial contribution to the local art scene.

Vytautas’s fondness for drawing and painting emerged early in his youth, dating back to his school years when he would create art even during mathematics classes. This lifelong passion has consistently guided him, profoundly shaping both his artistic approach and identity.

Once his children became independent, Vytautas was able to dedicate more time to his artistic interests and began painting on canvas. This phase marked the start of a more committed and intentional involvement with his craft, giving him the opportunity to further refine his style and skills.

Vytautas is particularly recognized for inventing a distinctive painting technique, developed through his experiments with diverse materials such as paint, earth, clay, herbs, rust, paper, and wood. Even today, this innovative method remains his favorite. For Vytautas, the greatest honor lies in knowing that people choose to adorn their homes with his work, which continues to inspire his creativity.
