Gintarė Marčiulynaitė Maskaliūnienė is an artist whose creations draw inspiration from the profound harmony present in nature, focusing particularly on animal portraits seamlessly integrated with surrounding landscapes. She is especially captivated by the hazy horizons that are so typical of the Lithuanian countryside, crafting both expansive and intricately detailed compositions. Through her work, Gintarė seeks to convey a sense of nature that is both unrestrained and gentle, subtly shaped by human presence and the passage of time. Her art aims to illuminate the enduring bond connecting people with the animal and plant kingdoms, sharing the warmth and simple joys that come from a deep relationship with the natural world. This kindhearted, tender perspective forms the core of her creative drive.
Her approach to painting expresses an airy, effortless quality reminiscent of ordinary moments, gently accented by elements of romanticism, realism, and a decorative, illustrative touch. Gintarė’s artistry deliberately avoids delving into complex philosophical questions or inventing elaborate stories; rather, she invites the viewer to appreciate the inherent beauty found in daily existence. At the heart of her artistic vision lie sensations of serenity, calm, and present-minded awareness—an invitation to experience the present moment through her paintings.
Gintarė earned her master’s degree in painting in 2012 from the Vilnius Academy of Arts, Kaunas Faculty. This academic background further honed her technical abilities and enhanced her understanding of visual narrative, qualities that are evident in the thematic depth and skillful execution of her later artworks.
Since 2016, Gintarė Marčiulynaitė Maskaliūnienė has been a member of the Artists' Association, maintaining a strong presence in both Lithuanian and international art circles. Between 2021 and 2023, she applied her painting expertise to the animated film “The Peasants,” an experience she considered an extension of her artistic education due to its complexity and valuable lessons. Gintarė frequently organizes solo shows and takes part in group exhibitions throughout Lithuania and abroad, bringing her distinct interpretation of nature’s harmony to a broader audience.
