More about this artwork

This painting features the textured, aged appearance of an old handwritten letter or postcard. The background is a parchment-like color, interspersed with scribbles and soft, undefined marks, suggesting wear and historical age. Dominating the visual field are two prominent elements resembling the parts of a letter: an ink stamp in deep blue with words encircling a central design and a date, and a vibrant green postage stamp depicting abstracted floral elements. The body of the letter is adorned with various texts. To the left, larger, more legible words are written in a flowing script, while the right side of the piece includes lines of text that are less discernible, written in a different, possibly hurried hand. Some of these texts extend beyond simple legibility, evoking the personal and intimate nature of handwritten communication. The overall composition elicits the nostalgia and personalized touch of receiving a handwritten note.

Konstantinas Žardalevičius stands out in the art world for his distinctive approach, marked by a duality within his character. On one side, he immerses himself in profound spiritual questions, channeling these deep investigations into his artworks. On the other, he is celebrated for his open and welcoming nature, a trait that finds expression in both his creations and his engagements with others.

He is particularly drawn to themes involving the subconscious, the eternal, and the elusive aspects of human existence. While he tends to explore these abstract and spiritual themes, Konstantinas also retains a sharp sensitivity to everyday human experiences and relationships, which lends his art an added layer of emotional nuance and perceptiveness.

As a committed member of the Artists Union of Lithuania, Konstantinas Žardalevičius is widely admired as an influential and innovative participant in the Lithuanian art sphere. His involvement allows him to collaborate closely with other artists and significantly shape the evolution of the country’s contemporary art landscape.

Within his paintings, he frequently examines the interplay between spirit, soul, and matter, investigating how these elements affect one another. Renowned for his talent in portraying fleeting, translucent, and continually shifting motifs, Konstantinas produces art pieces that serve both as centers for meditation and as visual inquiries into the foundations of mythic and spiritual understanding.
