More about this artwork

The painting depicts a figure clothed in a voluminous, shaggy fur coat that envelops most of the body, leaving only the legs, particularly the thighs and calves, exposed. The fur appears wild and unkempt, hinting at a rustic or even savage aesthetic. The underlying garment is strikingly red and texturally contrasted; it resembles a roughly textured skirt or a lower garment that extends just below the hips. Intriguingly, despite the rough and primitive nature of the fur, the figure wears clear, delicate high-heeled shoes, which introduce a contemporary or sophisticated element contrasting with the primitive overtones of the fur. The background features a complex, textured surface resembling a wall filled with inscriptive or decorative script, which adds a further layer of depth and abstraction to the scene. The figure’s posture is slightly bent and twisted, with one hand reaching towards the neck as if adjusting or feeling the fur, enhancing the sense of movement and tactile engagement. The facial expression is subdued yet attentive, directing an engaging gaze outwards, suggesting an interaction or connection with an observer.

"A painting is a dialogue between the artist and the viewer, or a mirror - it reflects the viewer, his or her feelings and moods. If the work didn't make you stop, remember what you felt, what you knew, what was important, but you forgot - go on... You will still go - but maybe a little differently, in a different way..." - "I don't want to call my canvases paintings. They are acrylic drawings. I am interested in the line of the human face, the silhouette of the body. I want to convey different moods and states of mind in a spare colour language. In recent years, I have allowed myself to fall in love with the shiny textures of gold and silver - a little nostalgic, sweetly sentimental. After all, sentiments are our memories of bright episodes of the past."

The artist has held 13 solo exhibitions in Palanga, Klaipėda, Vilnius, Latvia and Germany.
