More about this artwork

The painting features two figures, presumably male and female, depicted in a stylized manner with sparse, sketch-like lines against a mostly white background. The figures are adorned with sunglasses, suggesting a theme of coolness or aloofness. The male figure to the right appears more defined, with distinct facial features like high cheekbones, a strong jaw, and a stout nose visible beneath rounded sunglasses. He wears a sleek, modernist suit accented with a crisp shirt. The female figure, to his left, is rendered with softer, more ethereal lines but nonetheless carries a bold presence, highlighted by her fluffy, voluminous garb around the neck which adds a touch of drama and texture. Both figures exude an air of confidence and authority underscored by the vibrant bursts of purple and pink hues that frame them, emphasizing the painting's title, "The Boss". A splash of these vivid colors also appears to drip at the bottom, adding an element of fluidity and motion. The word "Boss" is casually inscribed on the male figure’s suit, reinforcing the theme of leadership or dominance portrayed by the characters.

I graduated from the Vilnius Academy of Arts in 2005 with a degree in painting. I have been intensively involved in artistic activities, won an art competition in Lithuania and went to present my paintings at the Italian Biennale. I participate in group exhibitions and I am also organising my own solo painting exhibitions. My work travels all over the world.

I distinguish two periods in the history of my work: the early period and the current "About People". The early phase is my past period of painting, a reflection of what is important to me: colour relationships, brushstrokes, the search for reflective ways of painting turned into an expressive minimalism. With colours and brushstrokes I was exploring nothingness, trying to reveal that our everyday life has not been discovered to infinity.

My current phase of work is "About the people around me". I paint about their experiences, emotions and how I see them or feel myself among them.
