More about this artwork

The painting depicts a serene landscape centered around a tranquil pond. A gentle arching bridge, possibly constructed of stone, stretches across the center of the pond, harmoniously connecting the lush greenery on either side. Reflecting on the pond’s smooth water surface is the bridge along with the dense foliage of trees and shrubs that envelop the scene. The palette consists mainly of varying shades of green and blue, conveying a sense of calm and coolness which is punctuated by occasional touches of white, hinting at light dappling through the trees. The overall impressionist style enhances the dreamlike, peaceful quality of the setting, inviting the viewer to experience a moment of quiet reflection.

Dalia Motiejūnienė is an artist whose inspiration springs from the calm and beauty she encounters in nature. She most often turns to flowers, trees, and the sea as her main subjects, expressing a yearning for simplicity and tranquility that counters the rush of urban environments and the pervasive reach of technology. Using both photography and watercolor sketches, she seizes brief glimpses of natural splendor, later transforming these into the foundations of her paintings. Dalia’s canvases immerse viewers in evocative landscapes filled with color, emotion, and a vivid sense of environment, inviting them to experience everything from the gentle warmth of melting snow to the fragrance of blooming apple trees.

Motiejūnienė distinguishes her artistic practice by resisting the repetitive cycles found in many modern trends. She approaches each new artwork as a unique exploration, seeking out fresh creative questions and steering clear of formula-driven repetition. She also considers the enduring relevance of landscape painting, wondering whether tradition demands clear horizons or identifiable motifs in each piece. Always probing the limits of the genre, her work delves into the importance of spatial arrangement and the way color interacts within natural settings.

Born in Klaipėda, a port city on the shores of the Baltic Sea, Dalia Motiejūnienė has spent much of her life living and working in Vilnius, Lithuania’s capital. Her development as an artist has been shaped through private mentorships with accomplished painters like Antanas Beinaravičius and Vytautas Poškas, in addition to her studies at the Vilnius J. Vienožinskis Art School and the esteemed Vilnius Academy of Arts. This strong educational foundation has played a key role in refining her approach to painting and deepening her grasp of artistic principles.

With a commitment to revealing the timeless relevance and emotional depth of landscapes, Motiejūnienė encourages her audience to reflect on the enduring appeal and significance of the natural world. Her artworks provide a meditative refuge that demonstrates, even amid the relentless pace of modern life, how the majesty and calm of nature continue to offer inspiration in both art and everyday existence.
