More about this artwork

This painting by Indrė Beinartė, titled "Cracks and Crevices No. 3," is quite intriguing. It features abstract forms, resembling cracks or fissures. These forms create dynamic patterns across the canvas. Shades of black and gray dominate, with a striking line of gold that draws the eye.The background is muted, with what appear to be folds or wrinkles, adding to the textured look. Beinartė's style in this work is expressive and focuses on the interplay of texture and contrast. This method breathes life into what might otherwise be simple cracks, turning them into a captivating visual exploration. The use of gold against the monochrome palette adds a touch of elegance and depth.Overall, this piece is abstract and open to interpretation, typical of Beinartė's expressive approach to her art.

Artist

Indrė Beinartė is an artist who primarily expresses herself through monochrome ink painting. Using this medium, she captures the essence of objects by emphasizing depth and simplicity, while embracing emptiness and open space. Through the elimination of superfluous details, her works evoke a quiet intensity and a contemplative energy.

Her artistic philosophy is deeply influenced by Japanese aesthetics, as seen in her affinity for minimalist arrangements, nuanced subtlety, and the expressive nature of calligraphic brushwork. Indrė frequently works with sumi ink on handmade papers such as xuan and washi, later mounting these paintings on linen or canvas, and sometimes accentuating them with natural wood. The imagery in her pieces merges East Asian and Lithuanian landscapes, featuring cranes, herons, and softly rolling, grassy hills that speak to her personal ties to her native land.

Indrė Beinartė’s artistic vision is shaped by a spirit of exploration and keen observation of the natural world. She places great value on presence and mindfulness within her creative process, aiming to reflect the balance between darkness and light as well as the dynamic relationship between shadow and abundance in nature. Through this deliberate and thoughtful approach, her brushwork communicates emotion and encourages viewers to pause and notice the nuanced beauty of life.

In 2024, Indrė Beinartė presented two solo exhibitions and continues to nurture her passion by leading workshops focused on Japanese culture and ink painting techniques. Moreover, in 2022, she wrote and illustrated a bilingual children’s book, further demonstrating her versatility and ongoing dedication to inspiring creativity among a diverse audience.
