"K. Česonytė’s paintings are variations on Expressionist painting: characterized by a trembling touch, energetic brushstrokes, and expressive paint textures with which she often seems to 'sculpt' figures, objects, and landscape elements. In terms of genre, the scope of her work is quite traditional. Landscapes predominate, though the artist has also painted a series of still lifes, numerous urban scenes, and the occasional stylized portrait. Yet, other aspects of K. Česonytė’s painting align her less with classical modernist art and more with the imagery of the contemporary, media-saturated world. 'My tools are the computer and virtual space,' she says. The visual imagery in her paintings derives not from reality itself, but from a virtual—or secondary—reality. For this creative artist, however, that serves merely as a springboard or a starting signal that liberates both imagination and hand. In her work, this secondary reality—or a chance motif—and the artist’s imagination most often intertwine inseparably. Images suggested by modern media are transformed into authentic visions, deeply and sensitively experienced by the painter herself."

About this artwork+

The artwork depicts a series of flowers and buds gracefully sprawling across a dark, charcoal-black background. The flowers, painted in white and lightly tinged with yellow and shades of blue, exude a luminous quality against the muted backdrop. Each bloom and bud shows delicate brush strokes, capturing a sense of gentle movement and a tactile, almost velvety texture. The petals are accompanied by slender green leaves and thin winding stems that add an organic, wild feel to the composition. The painter’s light touch with highlights and shadows brings depth and realism to the plants, making them appear as if they are softly glowing in low light, enhancing the overall ethereal and serene mood of the painting.
