Painting in the room
"K. Česonytė’s paintings are variations on Expressionist painting: characterized by a trembling touch, energetic brushstrokes, and expressive paint textures with which she often seems to 'sculpt' figures, objects, and landscape elements. In terms of genre, the scope of her work is quite traditional. Landscapes predominate, though the artist has also painted a series of still lifes, numerous urban scenes, and the occasional stylized portrait. Yet, other aspects of K. Česonytė’s painting align her less with classical modernist art and more with the imagery of the contemporary, media-saturated world. 'My tools are the computer and virtual space,' she says. The visual imagery in her paintings derives not from reality itself, but from a virtual—or secondary—reality. For this creative artist, however, that serves merely as a springboard or a starting signal that liberates both imagination and hand. In her work, this secondary reality—or a chance motif—and the artist’s imagination most often intertwine inseparably. Images suggested by modern media are transformed into authentic visions, deeply and sensitively experienced by the painter herself."

About this artwork+
The painting depicts a group of vividly colored fish swimming against a dark, muted background. Each fish is rendered with dynamic brush strokes, highlighting an array of hues—blues, reds, yellows, and greens—intermingling in a lively and chaotic dance. The fishes appear almost in motion, with some facing upwards and others angling towards different directions, creating a sense of fluid movement and diversity. Their scales seem to shimmer through the use of light textural contrasts against the somber backdrop, imbuing the scene with a sense of depth and vitality.
