"K. Česonytė’s paintings are variations on Expressionist painting: characterized by a trembling touch, energetic brushstrokes, and expressive paint textures with which she often seems to 'sculpt' figures, objects, and landscape elements. In terms of genre, the scope of her work is quite traditional. Landscapes predominate, though the artist has also painted a series of still lifes, numerous urban scenes, and the occasional stylized portrait. Yet, other aspects of K. Česonytė’s painting align her less with classical modernist art and more with the imagery of the contemporary, media-saturated world. 'My tools are the computer and virtual space,' she says. The visual imagery in her paintings derives not from reality itself, but from a virtual—or secondary—reality. For this creative artist, however, that serves merely as a springboard or a starting signal that liberates both imagination and hand. In her work, this secondary reality—or a chance motif—and the artist’s imagination most often intertwine inseparably. Images suggested by modern media are transformed into authentic visions, deeply and sensitively experienced by the painter herself."

About this artwork+

This painting, titled "Love" by Kristina Česonytė, shows two faces, creatively intertwined. The artist uses simple lines to define the features of the faces. Both figures have prominent eyes and mouths, drawn with a sense of abstraction. There's a playful use of gold paint that accents their eyes, adding a shimmering focus to the piece. The background is white with scattered pink and red dots, portraying perhaps a sense of emotion or energy between the figures. Česonytė's style here is minimalist yet expressive, focusing on contour lines and subtle color accents to convey deep connections and emotions. This painting feels both modern and timeless, capturing the essence of affection in a unique, artistic way.
