"K. Česonytė’s paintings are variations on Expressionist painting: characterized by a trembling touch, energetic brushstrokes, and expressive paint textures with which she often seems to 'sculpt' figures, objects, and landscape elements. In terms of genre, the scope of her work is quite traditional. Landscapes predominate, though the artist has also painted a series of still lifes, numerous urban scenes, and the occasional stylized portrait. Yet, other aspects of K. Česonytė’s painting align her less with classical modernist art and more with the imagery of the contemporary, media-saturated world. 'My tools are the computer and virtual space,' she says. The visual imagery in her paintings derives not from reality itself, but from a virtual—or secondary—reality. For this creative artist, however, that serves merely as a springboard or a starting signal that liberates both imagination and hand. In her work, this secondary reality—or a chance motif—and the artist’s imagination most often intertwine inseparably. Images suggested by modern media are transformed into authentic visions, deeply and sensitively experienced by the painter herself."

About this artwork+

The painting portrays a collection of faces, each distinct yet connected by shared lines and patterns, suggesting a complex tapestry of human diversity. The faces vary in their features and expressions, rendered in a style that combines both abstract and figurative elements. The background is filled with vertical streaks and swirls, possibly representing the chaotic and dynamic nature of human societies. The overall color palette is dark with highlights of blues, whites, and flesh tones, which breathe life into the faces and draw attention to their unique characteristics. Each face seems to tell its own story, with eyes that hold depth and mystery, inviting the viewer to ponder the individuality and collective identity of humanity.
