More about this artwork

The painting showcases a rich, textured surface with a dominantly dark palette, interspersed with highlights of vibrant orange and subtle hints of blue and purple. The texture seems rough, almost organic, resembling the rugged terrain of a volcanic landscape or the craggy surface of an extraterrestrial body. The central feature appears to be a glowing fissure, emitting an intense orange light that seems to pulsate with warmth against the cooler, shadowy surroundings. This central glow is framed by an irregular, labyrinthine outline, giving the impression of a fiery crack on a darkened surface. The overall effect is both mysterious and captivating, evoking a sense of dynamic movement within the stillness of the composition.

Artist

Aiva Jaskelytė is an artist whose creations explore the diverse mental states that ignite her imagination. She earned her Master of Arts from the Department of Native Art at the Vilnius Academy of Arts, refining her abilities and cultivating a distinct artistic style. Over the course of her career, she has been involved in a variety of art projects and exhibitions, consistently embracing experimentation and venturing into novel and uncharted forms of expression.

As an interdisciplinary artist, Aiva Jaskelytė works with monumental paintings, graphic pieces, and easel artworks. The concept of connection lies at the heart of her craft, as she considers it a means of uniting thoughts, ideas, and emotions. She investigates this motif through her original visual approach, frequently searching for new ways to depict abstract bonds and emotional experiences within her practice.

Fascinated by the pursuit of internal understanding, Jaskelytė finds inspiration in the natural world, observing its details both microscopically and from high above, as if from the clouds. These explorations are translated into her art, resulting in compositions rich in layers of impressions and insights. Her creative outlook centers on unseen connections comparable to the complex networks of fungal mycelium, implying that interaction and exchange are constantly occurring beneath the surface of what is visible.

Marked by an intuitive touch, gentle layering of colors, and adaptability across different mediums, Jaskelytė’s body of work spans investigations into connections among humans, animals, and even mysterious, invisible realms. She encourages viewers to contemplate the extensive, hidden systems that underpin our reality. Her works have appeared in numerous solo exhibitions, collective shows, and collaborative art projects.
