More about this artwork

The painting captures a majestic mountain range with sharply defined peaks, swathed in snow. The artist uses broad, sweeping strokes to depict the rugged texture of the mountainside, where patches of raw, earthen rock peek through the blanket of white. The interplay of light and shadow is skillfully rendered, suggesting the play of sunlight across the snow-laden slopes. The color palette is predominantly composed of whites, greys, and muted browns, conveying a crisp, wintry atmosphere. The sky, a soft wash of blue, hints at a calm yet chilly day in the high altitudes. The brushwork is fluid and expressive, lending a sense of movement and grandeur to the scene.

Artist

Diana Timonina is an artist whose life has always been closely connected to creativity and art. Surrounded by creative people from an early age, she attended both an art school and an art studio during her formative years. Her enduring appreciation for visual aesthetics ultimately led her to pursue architecture, a field that remains her main profession and continues to inspire her artistic work.

For a time, Diana set aside drawing and painting to focus on other interests, causing her hands-on involvement with art to wane. This hiatus lasted until about five years ago. Amid the routines of motherhood, she rekindled her passion for art. Returning to her paints and brushes marked a turning point for Diana; she found herself drawn to watercolour, enchanted by its delicacy, clarity, and spontaneous nature.

Klaipėda, the city where Diana was born, occupies a special place in her affections and frequently appears as a motif in her art. She discovers inspiration and beauty in the scenes of Klaipėda, its lively port, and the peaceful coastline. The local landscapes often feature in her paintings, revealing her profound attachment to the place she calls home.

Travel is another powerful influence on Diana’s creativity. The encounters and impressions she gathers from journeys across the globe regularly shape her artistic vision. She considers herself fortunate to be able to infuse her art with the inspiration drawn from travel, transforming scenes and memories from distant places into vivid watercolours.
