More about this artwork

In this painting titled "Source" by Indrė Beinartė, you can see a tall, dark form contrasted against a beige background. The form looks like a tree or a plant stem, stretching upwards. Its base is broad and solid, but as your eyes move up, it dissolves into what appears to be drips or streaks. These give the impression of movement or growth. The style used here is minimalistic, focusing on simplicity and the essence of the subject rather than detailed depiction. Indrė Beinartė uses earthy tones and a rather restrained color palette. The artwork carries a serene, organic feel, almost like a traditional Asian brush painting. This might be hinted at by the red seal-like stamp near the bottom right, adding an element of personal or cultural identity to the work. The painting suggests themes of nature, growth, and perhaps origins, tying back to its title, "Source".

Artist

Indrė Beinartė is an artist who primarily expresses herself through monochrome ink painting. Using this medium, she captures the essence of objects by emphasizing depth and simplicity, while embracing emptiness and open space. Through the elimination of superfluous details, her works evoke a quiet intensity and a contemplative energy.

Her artistic philosophy is deeply influenced by Japanese aesthetics, as seen in her affinity for minimalist arrangements, nuanced subtlety, and the expressive nature of calligraphic brushwork. Indrė frequently works with sumi ink on handmade papers such as xuan and washi, later mounting these paintings on linen or canvas, and sometimes accentuating them with natural wood. The imagery in her pieces merges East Asian and Lithuanian landscapes, featuring cranes, herons, and softly rolling, grassy hills that speak to her personal ties to her native land.

Indrė Beinartė’s artistic vision is shaped by a spirit of exploration and keen observation of the natural world. She places great value on presence and mindfulness within her creative process, aiming to reflect the balance between darkness and light as well as the dynamic relationship between shadow and abundance in nature. Through this deliberate and thoughtful approach, her brushwork communicates emotion and encourages viewers to pause and notice the nuanced beauty of life.

In 2024, Indrė Beinartė presented two solo exhibitions and continues to nurture her passion by leading workshops focused on Japanese culture and ink painting techniques. Moreover, in 2022, she wrote and illustrated a bilingual children’s book, further demonstrating her versatility and ongoing dedication to inspiring creativity among a diverse audience.
