More about this artwork

In this painting, we see three bird-like figures portrayed in a very whimsical and simplistic style. The largest figure, appearing as a parent, is pulling a wagon. Another, much smaller, seems to be its child. The parent holds the child's hand. In the wagon, there's another figure, looking like it's settled comfortably among bottles.Robertas Strazdas uses monotone colors, mainly black and grey, which add a sort of starkness to the playful figures. The style is quite minimalist and expressive, relying on broad, uneven strokes to define shapes and characters. The painting has a lighthearted yet poignant feel, possibly reflecting themes of family and care. The text in the painting, which appears to be in Lithuanian, adds an intriguing layer of meaning, suggesting a narrative or message behind the imagery. Strazdas's artwork combines simplicity with depth, inviting viewers to interpret it in their own ways.

Artist

I am currently studying for a Master's degree at Vilnius Academy of Arts.

Paintings ideas come from observing my own environment and then „steal“ some details of that place. These details tend to find me themselves and then I realize that yes, somehow it must be important to me, and I only realize the importance of moment and detail much later. The characters in the paintings are often influenced by everyday melancholy and in no hurry contemplating with themselves.

I‘m not attached to one technique and tool. I have noticed that I am naturally looking for different ways of expressing myself through painting and that is why the paintings themselves often look different. Often in the same work, oil painting combines with acrylic or spray paint and sometimes with markers. Almost every work is dominated by a figurative composition with large areas of solid color. As if two quite different art trends are merged - easel painting and street art. Most artwork distinguished with contour line and a bright contrasting color palette.
