Painting in the room
"K. Česonytė’s paintings are variations on Expressionist painting: characterized by a trembling touch, energetic brushstrokes, and expressive paint textures with which she often seems to 'sculpt' figures, objects, and landscape elements. In terms of genre, the scope of her work is quite traditional. Landscapes predominate, though the artist has also painted a series of still lifes, numerous urban scenes, and the occasional stylized portrait. Yet, other aspects of K. Česonytė’s painting align her less with classical modernist art and more with the imagery of the contemporary, media-saturated world. 'My tools are the computer and virtual space,' she says. The visual imagery in her paintings derives not from reality itself, but from a virtual—or secondary—reality. For this creative artist, however, that serves merely as a springboard or a starting signal that liberates both imagination and hand. In her work, this secondary reality—or a chance motif—and the artist’s imagination most often intertwine inseparably. Images suggested by modern media are transformed into authentic visions, deeply and sensitively experienced by the painter herself."

About this artwork+
The painting depicts a serene street scene in an old town, characterized by historical architecture with distinct European flair. On the left, a row of tall townhouses painted in dark colors features prominently, with detailed windows and arched doorways, hinting at a storied past. Each window is framed with lighter shades, perhaps reflecting the soft, diffused light of an overcast sky. The central building painted in a warm, sunny yellow offers a visual respite and draws the eye with its inviting color and similarly styled but uniquely arched windows. The ground shows cobblestones, echoing the rustic charm of this old town setting. On the right, part of a structure with similar architectural elements extends into the frame, its top adorned with what appears to be a small classical dome, suggesting the presence of a significant public or religious building just out of sight. The overall palette is muted, with the play of light suggesting either early morning or late afternoon, enhancing the ambiance of quiet historical beauty.
