"K. Česonytė’s paintings are variations on Expressionist painting: characterized by a trembling touch, energetic brushstrokes, and expressive paint textures with which she often seems to 'sculpt' figures, objects, and landscape elements. In terms of genre, the scope of her work is quite traditional. Landscapes predominate, though the artist has also painted a series of still lifes, numerous urban scenes, and the occasional stylized portrait. Yet, other aspects of K. Česonytė’s painting align her less with classical modernist art and more with the imagery of the contemporary, media-saturated world. 'My tools are the computer and virtual space,' she says. The visual imagery in her paintings derives not from reality itself, but from a virtual—or secondary—reality. For this creative artist, however, that serves merely as a springboard or a starting signal that liberates both imagination and hand. In her work, this secondary reality—or a chance motif—and the artist’s imagination most often intertwine inseparably. Images suggested by modern media are transformed into authentic visions, deeply and sensitively experienced by the painter herself."

About this artwork+

The painting depicts three wolves or dog-like creatures, drawn in a loose, sketch-like style. They are layered on top of each other, creating a dynamic, almost moving scene. The top wolf is shaded in blue, positioned as if leaping or in mid-motion. Below, a wolf sketched in black appears to be trotting forward, while the bottommost one, also in black, seems to be stretching or waking up. All three creatures are set against a vibrant red background, which enhances the sense of action and depth. The artwork is lively and somewhat playful, pulling the viewer's eyes in different directions with its array of movements and colors.
