Artist

Collage artist Donata Buivydė started her work in 2020. Her debut artworks were selected for the biannual project reStart, organised by the Lithuanian Photographers Association, and exhibited in a group exhibition in Prospekto Gallery in Vilnius, Lithuania. She also collaborates with Lithuanian magazine “Literature and Art” by creating covers.

“The very beggining of the creation of collages was somehow very elemental - maybe that’s the reason I continue to look for that tiny line between order and chaos, which is both great mistery as well as an amusement for me. The collage might look like a bunch of separate cuts, but when you look deeper it always reveals a story.

Storytelling is a a key feature in my artworks as my background is in writing. For the same reason the name of the artwork is an inseparable part of it - like one of the paper cuts. I also like to merge both writing and collages - create them as visuals for my articles in online magazine.

For me a collage is a constant reminder of the ability to recreate. Make an integral unit out of scattered pieces. Match the incompatible, link the unlinkable. Don’t look for solutions - look for miracles.”
