Sigitas Laurinavičius is a painter, member of the Lithuanian Artists' Union since 2013. In 1992, he graduated from the Faculty of Arts of Šiauliai Pedagogical Institute (since 1997 - Šiauliai University), and in 1997 he received a Master's degree in Humanities (Art).

From 1995 to the present, he has held 14 solo exhibitions, participated in more than 20 different plein air exhibitions and over 100 group exhibitions in Lithuania and abroad.

Since 2001 S. Laurinavičius has been a member of the Zemgale Region Artists' Group, and from 2003 to 2015 he was the head of the group and curator of exhibitions and plein-airs.

For his creative, artistic pedagogical and organisational activities, S. Laurinavičius has received letters of appreciation from various institutions, and in 2018 he was awarded the Panevėžys City Municipality Prize. In 2017 and 2022, he was awarded a scholarship from the Panevėžys City Municipality for the implementation of painting projects. In 2021, he was awarded the diploma of laureate at the 1st International Triennial "У краю сірих перлин" in Kremenchuk, Ukraine.

The work employs both realistic and abstract methods of representation in equal measure, supplementing the plastic language of the work with single or grouped coloured squares, reminiscent of pixels in a digital image, in individual areas of the canvas. They are an important detail in all the works, used as another layer of the work, suggesting some kind of signs of temporality - like fragments of a crumbling reality, or streams of imaginary codes that seem to be completely out of our control.

The intention is to destroy the illusion of a recognisable reality and present it as the result of a clearly recycled, or at least disturbed, image. The aim is to get as close as possible to doubt as a liminal state and to ask: how and to what extent does what is seen actually correspond to reality, and what is our own relationship to it?
