"K. Česonytė’s paintings are variations on Expressionist painting: characterized by a trembling touch, energetic brushstrokes, and expressive paint textures with which she often seems to 'sculpt' figures, objects, and landscape elements. In terms of genre, the scope of her work is quite traditional. Landscapes predominate, though the artist has also painted a series of still lifes, numerous urban scenes, and the occasional stylized portrait. Yet, other aspects of K. Česonytė’s painting align her less with classical modernist art and more with the imagery of the contemporary, media-saturated world. 'My tools are the computer and virtual space,' she says. The visual imagery in her paintings derives not from reality itself, but from a virtual—or secondary—reality. For this creative artist, however, that serves merely as a springboard or a starting signal that liberates both imagination and hand. In her work, this secondary reality—or a chance motif—and the artist’s imagination most often intertwine inseparably. Images suggested by modern media are transformed into authentic visions, deeply and sensitively experienced by the painter herself."

About this artwork+

This painting features two abstract figures drawn with bold, pink outlines on a soft green and pink background. The figures are whimsical and rounded, with decorative elements like flowers in their hair. Each figure has simple, dot-like eyes and subtle facial expressions, conveying a gentle interaction. Kristina Česonytė's style in this work is playful and minimalist. She uses flat, vibrant colors and simple lines to create a sense of innocence and charm. The artwork feels light and joyful, emphasizing form and color over detailed realism. This approach allows viewers to connect emotionally with the figures and maybe imagine their own stories behind the scene.
