Laimonas Šmergelis lives and works in Utena. Since 1990 he has been participating in exhibitions, art projects and fairs. He has held more than 60 solo exhibitions and participated in over 200 group exhibitions in Lithuania and abroad.
During the four decades of his life, interesting upheavals have taken place in the work of the artist from Utena. Having previously painted pictures depicting dramatic, grotesque and gross phenomena, he radically changed his main subject after the birth of his son. It became a red-haired, curly-haired child - playing, smiling, sad, thoughtful, loving. He also paints interesting domestic objects with fantastic elements.
