More about this artwork

The painting depicts two ethereal women adorned in blue dresses speckled with lighter blue dots that emulate the pattern of flowers. Each woman is crowned with intricate headpieces, suggesting a regal or mystical nature. The figure on the left lifts one hand gracefully, holding a fan that mirrors the form of a seashell, with patterns that mimic the texture of both flora and the aquatic. Her golden hair cascades in curls, bedecked with spirals and orbs that lend a celestial air to her appearance. The woman on the right gazes towards the viewer, her curly dark hair falls around her shoulders, interspersed with flowers and vines that seem almost alive. She holds similar seashell-like fans, complementing her companion’s, enhancing the thematic synchronicity between the two.The background is a tapestry of natural motifs: flowers, celestial bodies, and organic forms that blend into a harmonious meadow, imbuing the scene with a dreamlike quality. Tiny flecks of light and intricate details in the backdrop suggest a universe where nature and the cosmos intertwine.Overall, the painting celebrates themes of nature, femininity, and mysticism through its vibrant imagery and symbolic elements.

Onutė Juškienė's landscapes are distinguished by their serene colour palette and the idyll that goes along with it; all the images are transported by the author into the space of dreams, and often the image seems like the most beautiful memory, with a slight air of nostalgia. The artist's gaze is wide, encompassing vast panoramas, and at the same time very attentive, observant, noticing the smallest details right here, underfoot.

The author's landscapes are naturally interwoven with human figures, children and women, figures and animals, which is extremely rare in the contemporary painting context. The artist often takes on purely animalistic paintings, where she paints animals with such care and attention that they become portraits of a kind. The women she depicts are mysterious and unpredictable, gazing off into the distance beyond the frame of the painting without letting their thoughts alert them. And although they appear to be completely calm, you can often guess the drama going on inside.

And what we like most is that the paintings are made with such obvious love. Every shade is felt and carries a message, every brushstroke is polished and placed exactly where it needs to be, no brutality, no aggression, just a lyrical homage to nature.
