More about this artwork

This painting depicts a bold, abstract face that dominates the canvas. The face is mostly black with white eyes, a mouth, and other details. It features geometric shapes and lines, giving it an edgy, tribal feel. There are white, beige, and red elements around the face, adding depth and contrast. The background has darker tones, which makes the face stand out more. The artist, AIMART, uses a style that mixes abstraction with tribal art influences. There's an intense, mystical quality to the painting, possibly reflecting the title "Shamaness." This style highlights simplicity yet conveys a powerful spiritual or mystical message. The use of rough textures and contrasting colors in AIMART’s work adds to the overall raw and primitive vibe. This painting is not just a portrait; it's a statement piece, rich in cultural echoes and artistic boldness.

Artist

The artist known as AIMART states that this name directly reflects her dedication to creating art, while also concealing a personal connection—her real name is encoded within it.

Born and raised in Kaunas, Lithuania, Aima Sodonienė began her artistic journey at the Kaunas Art Gymnasium, delving into various art forms. She later pursued her studies at the Vilnius Academy of Arts.

Aima's work is an ever-changing emotional expression that reflects her surroundings, feelings, and experiences. She is expressive and says she finds inspiration in everything: people, nature, cities, music, dance, and different cultures. Each piece is a reflection of the emotions of the day, so there is no monotony in her paintings – colors, shapes, and themes are constantly changing.

Although her work is spontaneous and unpredictable, acrylics and charcoal are Aima's main tools for creating strong, aesthetically harmonious compositions. Colour, line, shape, and gesture form the language she uses to communicate with the viewer. She appreciates the natural accidents in painting, combining them with thoughtful solutions to engage the viewer, capture their attention for a moment, and provide a sense of both calm and energy.

The author's works decorate not only private spaces, but also restaurants, hotels, clinics all over Lithuania and abroad. She strives to make the paintings alive and accessible to people in their natural environment, in their everyday life. Art, according to the artist, should be an integral part of the space - inspiring, cosy and meaningful.

The main goal of her work is to reach people. To engage, to interest, to create a moment when the gaze stops for a moment and the viewer discovers his or her own story in it, which is why the artist's works are mostly abstractions that leave room for her own interpretations.
