Painting in the room
"K. Česonytė’s paintings are variations on Expressionist painting: characterized by a trembling touch, energetic brushstrokes, and expressive paint textures with which she often seems to 'sculpt' figures, objects, and landscape elements. In terms of genre, the scope of her work is quite traditional. Landscapes predominate, though the artist has also painted a series of still lifes, numerous urban scenes, and the occasional stylized portrait. Yet, other aspects of K. Česonytė’s painting align her less with classical modernist art and more with the imagery of the contemporary, media-saturated world. 'My tools are the computer and virtual space,' she says. The visual imagery in her paintings derives not from reality itself, but from a virtual—or secondary—reality. For this creative artist, however, that serves merely as a springboard or a starting signal that liberates both imagination and hand. In her work, this secondary reality—or a chance motif—and the artist’s imagination most often intertwine inseparably. Images suggested by modern media are transformed into authentic visions, deeply and sensitively experienced by the painter herself."

About this artwork+
This painting by Kristina Česonytė, titled "Fantastic Animals," features a collection of animal-like figures. They are intertwined and layered in a dense composition. The figures are rendered in white silhouette against a textured golden background. The shapes are abstract, almost surreal, capturing the essence of movement and fluidity. The style is modern, minimalist, yet rich in its simplicity. It balances abstract forms with a rhythmic placement that almost feels musical. It’s gentle yet captivating upon closer inspection. Kristina Česonytė uses contrast effectively, playing the light figures against the dark, opulent background. This choice brings the animals to the forefront, making them pop visually. The artwork invites viewers to let their imaginations roam, deciphering each form and pondering its nature. The style is both imaginative and intriguing, characteristic of Česonytė's unique approach to art.
