Greta Virzbickytė is a contemporary artist living and working in Lithuania. She earned her bachelor's degree from the Vilnius Academy of Fine Arts, and she is now pursuing a Master's degree in Site-specific Art. Throughout her studies, Greta has continued to cultivate a unique artistic voice, exploring nontraditional methods within the visual arts.
At the heart of Greta's artistic practice lies an openness to coincidence and unpredictability. She views chance as an essential factor that both shapes the result and informs the meaning of her artworks. Rather than avoiding mistakes or accidental gestures, Greta welcomes them as moments for creative exploration, transforming unintended outcomes into strengths within her process.
Her approach to creation frequently includes letting go of strict control, permitting the materials—such as the unpredictable flow of paint and the spontaneous blending of colors—to influence the final work. By yielding to the process, she not only achieves singular visual forms but also employs this method as a way to communicate the subconscious and elusive aspects of human experience.
In Greta Virzbickytė’s paintings, unpredictability becomes a compelling instrument for reflection and self-exploration. By giving tangible form to what she finds difficult to consciously express, she encourages observers to engage with the instinctive and unforeseen realms of creativity, fostering a conversation among chance, self-awareness, and artistic expression.
