Jolita Puronaitė Lubienė was born in 1970 in Panevėžys, Lithuania. In 1991, she relocated to the city of Kaunas to pursue her higher education. Since 1996, she has resided and worked in the Kaunas district, immersing herself in the local artistic community. Jolita began participating actively in painting symposiums and group exhibitions in 2014, establishing her presence within the Lithuanian art scene.

Although her fascination with art began in childhood, Jolita only started painting independently a few years ago. Her artistic path led her through different art schools and ultimately to the studio of renowned artist Antanas Obcarskas. Through his workshops, Jolita encountered both the delights and challenges of creativity, describing the experience as “walking on razor’s blades of creative pleasure and suffering.”

After exploring various painting techniques and secrets, Jolita discovered her passion for expressive abstraction. She delights in the freedom that painting offers, allowing her to be fully present and liberated as vibrant and inventive bursts emerge on the canvas.

Jolita’s art arises from a profoundly intuitive process, which she describes as “tasting with the inside.” She absorbs her environment by moving, listening, observing, smelling, tasting, and touching. Like a sponge, she channels these sensory impressions into her artwork, allowing her paintings to convey her individual perceptions of the world and her inner emotions.
