More about this artwork

The painting presents a diptych with two distinct panels, each rendered in a unique color palette and style. The left panel features a series of vertical, staggered stripes in varying shades of green, punctuated by symmetrical, diamond-like shapes in a darker green hue. This pattern creates a rhythmic and almost three-dimensional optical effect, as if layers are stacked upon each other. The right panel shifts dramatically in both color and form, employing a warm, earthy palette of browns, tans, and oranges. Central to this panel is a curved, arch-like form that dominates the space, its contours soft and undulating. Surrounding this arch are concentric rectangles that progressively darken in shade as they move outward, suggesting depth and a tunnel-like perspective. The surface texture appears granular, adding a tactile dimension to the visual experience. Together, these elements across both panels evoke a contrast between geometric precision and organic flow, playing with the viewer's perception of space and form.

Timotiejus Norvila, better known by his moniker Morfai, stands out as one of Lithuania's trailblazers in street art. His artistic presence is especially evident in the cityscapes of Kaunas, Vilnius, Klaipėda, Šiauliai, and Joniškis, where his unmistakable style and creative vision have made a memorable impact on public spaces.

Noted for embracing a wide variety of artistic methods, Morfai resists limitations to any single medium or technique. His creative pursuits encompass photography, illustration, painting, street art, installations, and the development of design objects. This versatility enables him to continuously broaden and renew his artistic expression.

One of his best-known works, "The Sower," can be found in the garden of the Kaunas Military Museum. Morfai’s art frequently delves into diverse themes, touching upon universal aspects of human existence, and his artistic influence is felt not only in Lithuania but also in Denmark, the Netherlands, Ireland, and Spain.

In 2020, Morfai produced a series of design objects called "Anvils in the style of interwar architecture," a project that garnered him the award for best sculpture/installation at the international art exhibition ART Vilnius. He regularly provides an inside view of his creative process and showcases his work on YouTube vlogs, where he discusses his thematic and technical experiments—a journey that began with his first exhibitions in 2003.
