More about this artwork

The painting captures a tranquil landscape scene set on a sloping hillside. It features a group of trees, possibly pines, accentuated with long, upright trunks and a canopy of fluffy, dark green foliage that stands out against a pale blue sky. The ground is covered in patches of lingering snow, hinting at the transition of seasons from winter to spring. Sunlight filters through the trees, casting long, intricate shadows across the snowy ground, featuring a network of dark, reddish-brown lines that contrast sharply with the bright white of the snow. The use of light and shadow in the composition adds a dynamic element, suggesting the early warmth of a spring day breaking through the cold remnants of winter. The scene is peaceful, devoid of human presence, focusing solely on nature's quiet beauty in this transitional season.

Artist

Domantas Kličius is an artist who spent his childhood in the small Lithuanian town of Marijampolė. There, he finished both gymnasium and art school before relocating to Vilnius. After moving to Vilnius, he pursued architectural studies at the university, and has remained in the city, working as an architect ever since.

Kličius views both life and art through the lens of an architect, constantly searching for connections and analyzing the world around him. He is intrigued by the process of deconstructing his environment into minute elements and then combining them into distinctive, often abstract formations. His method yields pieces that are partly realistic yet infused with abstraction and at times an air of unreality.

For Kličius, art—and especially painting, graphic arts, and sculpture—has always been a vital part of his existence. He regards these artistic endeavors as both a pursuit and a passion, deriving true joy from creating new works. Despite the demands of his architectural profession, he frequently finds his mind occupied with thoughts of future paintings or artistic projects, reflecting his profound dedication to the creative process.

The unique landscapes that Kličius creates are meticulously composed, reminiscent of intricate puzzles. He assembles these environments from separate planes of color, skillfully manipulating their proportions and brightness. The finished artworks are not only visually striking but also provide a refined complement to contemporary interior design.
