More about this artwork

In a dreamy landscape saturated with deep blues and vibrant greens, a large bird, depicted in an almost whimsical style, dominates the scene. Its large eyes gaze out poignantly surrounded by intricate patterning across its body that mimics feathers, giving it a textured and ornate appearance. To the upper left of the large bird, a serene owl rests aloft, its expression poised and observing. Between splotches of darker blues that suggest the night sky, numerous smaller birds, some resembling long-tailed creatures, and others without distinct shapes, float or flutter about. The environment is lush with various plant forms, ranging from slender, leafy stalks to bushier, more rounded foliage, all stylized and abstract. The entire composition conveys a sense of nocturnal mystery and enchanting natural life, resonant with the painting’s title, “Voices of the Night.”

Artist

For graphic artist Inesa Gervė, the vivid realm of painting holds greater appeal than black and white. She gravitates toward lively color schemes, using them to convey emotions and narratives through rich tones and energetic arrangements.

Since childhood, Inesa has been fascinated by fairy tales and illustrations—an influence that still shapes her artistic outlook. She frequently experiences a sense of being caught between the purity of youth and the realities of adulthood, merging these dualities within her artwork.

Her creations reflect snippets of dreamlike recollections, silent emotions, and thoughts. She delves into a feeling of connection with the natural world, associating herself with leaves, grass, and moonlight, and highlighting the notion that humans form only a minor element within nature's vast expanse.

Inesa’s approach to creation is subtly rebellious, challenging concepts like vanity, superficiality, and consumerism. She considers art to be a remedy for the routine of daily existence, maintaining that its truest significance can be understood solely by those few who deeply identify with her perspective.
