More about this artwork

In the painting, two women are seated at a round, red table featuring several empty glasses and pitchers, likely in a domestic setting. The women, appearing thoughtful and somber, are dressed in matching green outfits which contrast with the vibrant red of the table. Behind them, a large painting of a yellow horse hangs on a violet wall striped with darker lines, adding a vivid splash of color and an intriguing focal point to the scene.

Rasa Makaraitytė is an emerging Lithuanian artist based in Rome. After graduating in architecture from the Vilnius Academy of Arts in Lithuania, Rasa turned to visual art. In Rome, she works in graphic design, photography, video art, illustration and painting.
Using a variety of techniques, Rasa's work gives form to fleeting memories. The images she captures speak of crisis, triumph, momentum and desire; they pulsate with emotion, which she expresses with bright colours, expressive brushstrokes and a black outline that brings everything together and holds everything in check. The artist likes to be more silent than to say. This way, one is not tied to one particular storyline, to the artist's own experience, and opens the door to versatility, to a wider freedom of interpretation.
