Artist

Eva Lauma graduated from the Vilnius Academy of Arts in 1999 with a degree in painting, but found her style in printmaking. Between 2013 and 2022, she held seventeen solo exhibitions, participated in group and selective exhibitions, and plein air exhibitions.

She creates one of a kind, large-format drawings in pen or pencil (although acrylics are also often used, but these paints are used graphically - to draw a line, circle or square). These are not reproduced prints, but unique, one of a kind pieces. The monochromatic nature of the works emphasises the artist's abandonment of her experience as a painter and her focus on line.

Eva Lauma often uses baltic symbolism, which is introduced in a subtle and sophisticated way, and linked to the signs of the contemporary world. Surprisingly, other works are also reminiscent of Australian Aboriginal art, suggesting that the artist creates universal cosmogonies. Her images of the world are at once archaic and modern, often resembling cells and primitive elements, and range from stars to molecules.

The artist's works are multi-layered, highly decorative and ornamental. The changing light effects (glossy, ultraviolet, phosphor layers) bring us back to the contemporary digital industrial world, inviting the viewer to think and meditate between past and present.

In 2018, the artist was granted the status of Art Creator, approved by the Ministry of Culture.
