My name is Karolina Borovinskich, I am a visual artist born in 1986 in Klaipėda, Lithuania. Since childhood, I have been deeply drawn to various forms of artistic expression – from crafts and drawing to photography and, more recently, painting. My creative journey has always been shaped by strong emotional and visual influences. Early inspiration came from artists such as Paul Gauguin, Henri Matisse, Birutė Žilytė, and Salvador Dalí. Later, I discovered the mystical allure in the works of Zdzisław Beksiński, Francis Bacon, and the surreal atmosphere of David Lynch’s Twin Peaks.
Music is another essential part of my creative life – inspiration often comes from a wide spectrum of genres, from ethnic and folk music to IDM and experimental soundscapes. I also find creative fuel in everyday moments, people, nature, and subtle emotional shifts that color our internal world.
While studying at university, I explored photography intensively, working with techniques such as light painting and conceptual self-portraits. Between 2005 and 2010, I developed skills in creative photography and digital editing (Photoshop), and participated in local photography and video contests.
In 2019, I began my journey as a painter. Under the guidance of artist Regina Donbrauskaitė-Plotnikova at the “Guboja” art club, I started to cultivate my visual language through abstract painting. Emotion is the core of my artistic expression. I paint intuitively, often guided by mood and instinct, using acrylic paint on canvas – both thick and fluid – and occasionally incorporating mixed media and texture tools to create tactile depth and expressive spontaneity.
