More about this artwork

In the painting "FLAVOR OF SUMMER", an abstract tapestry of textures and colors unfolds across the canvas, evoking a strong sensory immersion into a summer's palette. The upper portion features a mélange of muted greens, browns, and hints of gold, perhaps suggesting the dappling of sunlight through leaves or the variegated surfaces of a landscape. These natural tones intermittently give way to areas of bright white and deep charcoal, adding a dynamic contrast. As the eye travels downward, streaks and patches of pink, ranging from tender blushes to deeper hues, dominate the central expanse. This swath of pink might evoke the fragrance or the delicate blush of summer blooms. Overlaying these are impressions of white and gray that resemble the textures of bark or stone, bringing an earthy roughness that juxtaposes the softness of the colors. The bottom section of the painting introduces a striking, almost purely abstract element with vigorous white and gray brushstrokes sweeping across a lighter pink background. These strokes may remind one of flowing water, wind-ruffled surfaces, or grassy fields swept by summer breezes.Throughout the composition, the interaction of texture and color seems carefully balanced to suggest the fleeting, ephemeral qualities of summer—its light, its scents, and the feeling of movement within heat and breeze. The use of abstract forms allows for a personal interpretation, inviting viewers to recall their own summer experiences through the sensory journey laid out by the artist.

Eglė Stripeikienė is an artist whose creative path is driven by an intense passion for color, texture, and the exploration of various painting methods. She takes great joy in the process of making art, firmly believing that it possesses the power to enrich, uplift, and add meaning to life. For Eglė, creativity and inspiration are vital to her everyday life, motivating her to continually pursue fresh forms of self-expression and artistic discovery.

Upon graduating from the Vilnius Academy of Arts (VDA), Eglė worked for several years as a graphic designer. Although she gained valuable professional experience, she longed for the greater creative freedom that only fine art could offer. In 2017, she realized this desire by opening her own art studio for adults. As its founder and instructor, she now shares her artistic expertise and enthusiasm with others in her community.

To Eglė, painting resembles a journey undertaken without a map—a process marked by intuition and spontaneity, guided by inner trust and direction. With every new canvas, she welcomes elements such as rhythm, contrast, composition, and halftones, letting them organically guide the evolution of her work. This method allows her to embrace uncertainty and, in the process, discover moments of harmony and profound fulfillment in her art.

For Eglė, abstract art is a subtle interplay between mastery and unpredictability—a pursuit of equilibrium between tension and satisfaction. She characterizes her working process as one of quiet focus, where painting becomes both a form of meditation and a path to emotional exploration. Through her use of abstract forms, textures, and colors, she creates a space for personal healing and invites viewers to engage, reflect, and embark on their own transformative experience with art.
