More about this artwork

The painting portrays a tranquil landscape rendered in watercolors, capturing the essence of a serene lakeside scene under a vast, expansive sky. The colors blend softly into each other, with the sky washed in hues of blue and hints of warm gold and gray suggesting a cloud-covered sun or the gentle approach of dusk. Below the sky, the water body reflects these colors, adding to the painting’s serene mood. The middle ground is dominated by verdant greenery with signs of dense foliage, possibly a line of trees or shrubs on the far side of the lake. The lush greens range from light to dark, suggesting depth and the richness of the plant life there. Patches of brown and gray amidst the trees might indicate trunks or shadows within the thicket. The foreground is a lively mix of greens interspersed with specks of reds, whites, and yellows, implying a meadow or a field dotted with wildflowers. This part of the painting is more vivid and textured, providing a contrast to the soft washes of color seen in the sky and the water, and yet tying the whole scene together with an earthy base.It feels both real and dreamlike, as though the boundaries between the elements are melting away, each blending seamlessly into the next under the artist’s fluid brush strokes. The scene is quiet yet vibrant, holding within it a sense of life paused in time, reflecting the tranquility yet persistent pulse of the natural world.

Aušra Sirutienė Oreigė is an artist who only began exploring the expressive possibilities of watercolour painting a few years ago. Since embarking on this journey, she has sought to master this subtle medium, striving to discover her own distinctive artistic voice. Aušra is especially attracted to producing small-format pieces that are rich in emotional intensity, capturing the energy and atmosphere of the moment in each work.

Her art stands out for its emphasis on botanical and natural motifs. She harnesses the transparency and spontaneous nature of watercolour to evoke the delicate vulnerability of the environment. The paints move fluidly across the paper, mirroring the organic motion of nature, while Aušra expertly finds equilibrium among the elements. She delights in layering light and colour, lending a sense of openness and weightlessness to her paintings.

Though watercolour is a relatively recent focus for Aušra, her relationship with art goes back much further. She graduated from the Department of Pedagogy at Telšiai Higher School of Art, then continued her education at Šiauliai University. Her professional background spans 22 years of teaching art and andragogy at the university level, along with substantial experience leading creative seminars, workshops, and art classes for adults.

Aušra Sirutienė Oreigė has been fully immersed in her creative pursuits since 2014. Her enthusiasm for inspiring creativity in others is equaled by her dedication to cultivating her own artistic voice, particularly within the radiant and evocative realm of watercolour painting.
