I am originally from Suvalkija. It has influenced my work a lot and now I draw strength and peace from this land. The boundless horizon, the plains, the meadows and farm land. All this appears in the language of painting.

At the time when I was studying at art school, I was very much hooked by the abstract movement, which I became more familiar with at the Vilnius Academy of Fine Arts. To this day, it is like a boundless sky for me, inexhaustible layers. I combine landscape and abstraction into one. It is the unravelling of the mystery of nature through my inner world. Sometimes human forms, shapes or animals emerge.

I use layers in my work. The paint hides what is inside. One thing is covered by another. For me, it's like a human life. A person piles one experience on top of another. Layer by layer, it moves away from pure white.
